About L-Theanine

L-Theanine was first discovered in 1949 as a unique amino acid found in Green Tea. It helps reduce nervousness and restlessness – and promotes relaxation, without causing drowsiness. L-theanine has been found to be beneficial for those who suffer from stress and stress-induced anxiousness, and can help increase focus during times of stress.

L-Theanine can have a direct influence on our brains, increasing so-called Alpha Brain Waves, which are only present when we are alert and relaxed.
It helps regulate calming neurotransmitters, dopamine, serotonin and GABA – and simultaneously inhibits the effects of the “stress hormone” norepinephrine.

All this allows it to help improve mood, sleep and learning capacity, while reducing the feeling of being stressed.

Chronic Stress, a common condition in our fast pace world, is known to contribute to cardio-vascular disease, impaired immunity, headaches, insomnia, obesity, depression, … The list goes on and on.

L-Theanine, in our 250 mg regular caps, reaches body circulation and the brain within 30 to 40 minutes. It calms racing thoughts, relaxes us and at the same time increases concentration and alertness.

When taken at bedtime, customers report significant benefits with problems of waking up too early with spinning thoughts. Especially when combined with Magnesium Glycinate or Magnesium Glycinate Nighttime at bedtime.

L-Theanine was discovered as a constituent of green tea in 1949 by Sakato, and in 1964 was approved as a food additive in Japan. It has since been researched extensively and to this date has shown no signs of risk or danger to humans, even at higher, therapeutic doses.  L-Theanine crosses the blood-brain barrier via the large neutral amino acid (leucine-preferring) transport system and has shown to increase serotonin, gaba and dopamine production, while down regulating stress hormones, epinephrine and nor-epinephrine.

The available body of research on safety and efficacy is vast.
